Peer Review

The Peer Review view in Quality Clouds is designed for Release Managers and Architects who need visibility and control over write-off exceptions generated from the ServiceNow application. When an issue breaks Quality Gates and cannot be resolved, developers can request a write-off—Peer Review centralizes these requests and organizes them into an intuitive workflow.

Available for ServiceNow, the view ensures that exception handling is transparent, trackable, and aligned with your governance model.

Benefits

#

The Peer Review view allows you to:

  • Monitor, approve, or reject write-off requests directly through a clear Kanban interface (To Do → In Progress → Done).
  • Enforce Quality Gates by ensuring unresolved violations undergo formal review.
  • Maintain auditability with detailed information for each request: requester, CE name, update set, severity, impact area, fix time, expiration, and more.
  • Reduce risk by ensuring exceptions are justified rather than automatically approved.
  • Strengthen governance through configurable workflows, notifications, approval rules, and assignment logic.
  • Support developers by streamlining the process of requesting write-offs when issues cannot be resolved.

This view transforms exception handling into a structured approval workflow, ensuring quality remains the standard—not the exception.

How to Get the Most Out of It

#

To maximize Peer Review’s value:

  • Start by reviewing write-offs in the Kanban board, filtering by severity, impact area, requester, application, CE type, date range, and more.

  • Configure Peer Review in the Admin Portal: enable the feature, choose the assignment flow (manual, auto-assign, or developer-assign), and set notifications.
Enable Approver functionality to determine who can approve or reject requests.

  • Use the ServiceNow app to submit write-offs directly from Live Check results when issues cannot be resolved.

  • Track approved, rejected, and pending requests in both Peer Review and the Debt Manager view to ensure developers take action.

Peer Review is especially effective for teams looking to standardize exception management, maintain transparency, and support developers while keeping platform quality under control.
