Testing Instance Connectivity

What is a connectivity test? #

A connectivity test verifies that your Quality Clouds instance configuration and the permissions of the ServiceNow account used for scans are correct.
It checks access to all required tables—without analyzing any data—to ensure full scans can run successfully.

  • Required tables → Must be accessible, or scans cannot run
  • Optional tables → Missing access triggers a warning; scans run but results may be incomplete

Connectivity status appears in the Instances list in the QC portal.

Testing connectivity

#

  1. → To test instance connectivity:

    1. Go to Instances in the QC Admin Portal
    2. Find the instance
    3. Click Test connectivity

The connectivity is now being checked, and the results are displayed within a few seconds.

Interpreting the results #

There are three different results to every instance scan:

  • Success: All required and optional tables are accessible for analysis.
  • Warning: Optional Table not accessible. The ‘warning’ result is generally due to insufficient permissions being granted to the account which is configured in the instance.
  • Fail: This result means the instance scan can not succeed. There are a number of reasons for this:
    • Inaccessible URL due to Firewalls or IP Restrictions
    • Invalid Credentials configured in the Quality Clouds instance definition
    • Required Table not accessible (See test details for more information of the error)
