What is Teams Functionality

What is Teams Functionality? #

Teams functionality in Quality Clouds enables automatic assignment of Best Practices violations to specific teams directly from a Full Platform Scan.

This capability allows organizations to distribute technical debt across the right owners, ensuring accountability, faster remediation, and better alignment between governance insights and delivery teams.

By defining clear assignment rules, Quality Clouds removes the need for manual triage after each scan and turns scan results into immediately actionable work.

Why This Matters #

Using Teams provides several key advantages:

  • Clear ownership of technical debt. Issues are automatically routed to the teams responsible for fixing them.
  • Reduced manual effort. No need to manually review and assign issues after every Full Scan.
  • Scalable governance. Assignment rules scale across large organizations with multiple teams.
  • Faster remediation cycles. Teams can focus directly on the issues that belong to them.
  • Better alignment with organizational structure. Governance rules map directly to real team responsibilities, ensuring issues are assigned to the teams that are accountable for those components.

How It Works #

Create the Teams #

Teams are created in the Quality Clouds Admin Portal by a Customer Admin:

Navigate to Account → Teams → Add

Each Team represents a group responsible for a specific area.

Configure Team Assignment Rules
#

For each instance where you want to use Teams, go to:

Account → Instance → Edit → Team Assignation Rule

Here, you define the logic that determines which issues are assigned to which Team.

Each rule consists of:

  • Filter Criteria
  • Operator
  • Value

Available Filter Criteria.
Rules can be based on:

  • Application
  • Configuration Element or Type
  • Impact Area
  • Rule
  • Severity
  • Update Set Name
  • Tags

Assignment Scope #

You can also control when issues are assigned to Teams:

  • All Issues. Teams are assigned to all issues present in the full scan
  • New Issues Only. Teams are assigned only to newly detected issues from that point forward.

This flexibility supports both large remediation initiatives and incremental governance adoption.

Automatic Assignment during Full Scans #

Once a rule is configured and a Team is selected:

  • When a Full Scan is executed
  • All issues that match the rule
  • Are automatically assigned to the configured Team

👉 This ensures consistent, rule-based assignment without human intervention.

✅ Use Cases #

Teams are particularly effective in the following scenarios:

  • Technical debt remediation programs. Distribute large volumes of existing issues across multiple teams.
  • Enterprise environments. Align issue ownership with platform, security, and development teams.
  • Continuous governance models. Ensure new issues are automatically owned from the moment they are introduced.
  • Platform modernization efforts. Assign responsibility during cleanup, refactoring, or migration projects.

🧾 Summary #

The Teams capability in Quality Clouds transforms scan results into structured, actionable work by automatically assigning issues to the right teams.

It enables organizations to manage technical debt at scale, reduce manual overhead, and establish clear ownership across the platform.
