Developer Role in Quality Clouds

The Developer role is a technical integration role and does not provide access to the Quality Clouds Portal. It’s designed exclusively to authenticate developers into Quality Clouds integrations, such as Copado, Visual Studio Code, Flosum, and other tools that connect to Quality Clouds features like Livecheck or Quality Center.

Who needs the Developer role? #

Team members who don’t need access to the Quality Clouds Portal, but do need to interact with Quality Clouds features from external tools — for example, Salesforce developers running Livechecks from Copado, Visual Studio Code, or Quality Center.

Salesforce Developers are created manually, by a Customer Admin, in one of three ways:

1. From Account > Users

  1. Access the Quality Clouds Admin Portal.
  2. Go to Account > Users.
  3. Add or edit a user account.
  4. Set their Global Role to Developer.
  5. Assign the Salesforce project(s) they’ll work in.
  6. Save changes.

2. From within a Project

  1. Open the project in Account > Projects.
  2. Go to the Users section.
  3. Click Assign User.
  4. Search for an existing user, or click Create new user.
  5. Set the Global Role to Developer.

3. In bulk, via CSV

Add multiple Developer users at once using the official CSV template provided by Quality Clouds. This is useful for onboarding large teams of developers in one go. Contact Quality Clouds Support for the template.

It replaces the previous API key model — authentication for integrations is now handled via credentials tied to the Developer role, for a more secure, user-centric access model.

Credential activation #

Whichever method is used to create a Salesforce Developer, an account activation email is sent automatically so they can set up their personal QC credentials. These credentials are used across all Salesforce apps and the VS Code plugin, for centralized access to integrated Quality Clouds features.

On first use, a Developer is prompted to log in with their Quality Clouds credentials. After that, every instance connected to their assigned project(s) becomes available within the integration.
