Once you’ve imported your instances, scans, and issues, and run a scan or a Livecheck on your elements or update sets, every issue Quality Clouds finds is available to review and act on from a single grid.

The issue grid #
By default, each row in the issue grid shows:
- The name of the configuration element (CE) it relates to, with a direct link to that element
- CE type (e.g. Client Script)
- Line number
- Impact area
- Severity
- A link to the relevant best practice information
You can customize which fields are displayed to match how your team works.

Fixing issues #
From the issue grid, you can jump straight into the code: click the CE name to navigate to the exact line number flagged, fix it, and re-scan to confirm the issue clears.

Managing issues in your Agile team #
Instead of fixing issues one by one, you can bring them into your existing Agile development lifecycle.
If your instance has the ServiceNow® Agile Development plugin active, you can turn any issue into a defect (something to fix) or a story (something to plan and implement), so governance findings flow directly into your team’s backlog.
See Opening Defects and Creating Stories from Issues for the step-by-step process.
Working with issues from Quality Gates #
Quality Gates is an add-on to Quality Clouds that stops new technical debt from entering your platform. Contact Quality Clouds to learn more about pricing.
A Quality Gate lets you set a baseline of existing issues, decide which of those are accepted, and enforce that no new, unaccepted issues are introduced going forward.
- Issues baseline: a snapshot of your platform’s quality issues, taken after a full scan or on an activation date. It splits issues by impact area into:
- FAIL: issues that must be fixed (above the accepted threshold).
- PASS: issues that don’t need to be fixed yet (below the accepted threshold).
Once a Quality Gate is active, issues on an element or update set are split into:
- Active: new issues introduced since the baseline. These must be fixed before the update set can be promoted.
- Baseline: existing issues you’ve accepted as current technical debt.
If new issues are detected, Quality Gates blocks the promotion with the message: “Quality Gate does not allow code with any new issues. Make sure you solve these first.”
