Setup & Authentication

The Quality Clouds for Salesforce – VS Code Extension allows developers to run real-time code quality checks as they write code — directly from within Visual Studio Code. It’s a fast and effective way to identify issues early and ensure alignment with Salesforce best practices, internal coding standards, and platform-specific quality gates.

What is Visual Studio Code? #

Visual Studio Code is a free source-code editor made by Microsoft for Windows, Linux and macOS. It is used for building and debugging modern web and cloud applications.

Benefits of Using the Extension #

  • Instant feedback on code quality
  • Enforces coding standards before deployment
  • Helps reduce technical debt early in the lifecycle
  • Seamless integration with your development workflow in VS Code

Access & Permissions #

To use the extension, users must now be explicitly granted access via the Quality Clouds Admin Portal.

👤 Developer Role Required

Each developer using the extension must be registered as a Developer in your organization’s Quality Clouds account.

🔒 This role does not grant access to the Quality Clouds Portal, but enables authentication from development tools like Copado or Visual Studio Code.

  1. Log in to the Quality Clouds Admin Portal
  2. Navigate to: Account > Users
  3. Click Add User (or edit an existing one)
  4. Fill in the user details and assign the Developer role
  5. Save

The user will receive an email to set up their password. Once set, they’ll be able to log in to the extension.
